What Cited does not touch
Cited does not access your customers' personal data. It never reads customer accounts, orders, payment details, checkout data or shopper behaviour. On Shopify the app requests a single permission: read products.
What we collect
- Your shop or site name, domain, category, locale and country.
- The questions you track and the AI answers collected for them.
- Competitor names you enter.
- On Shopify: business locations and addresses you add, reviews you choose to sync (reviewer first names and review text), the email address for your digest, and the tokens for any Google Business Profile or reviews account you connect.
- On Wix: a small sample of product titles, types and categories, and your app instance ID and plan.
- The platform access token that lets the app run in your admin.
What goes to AI providers
To check what the assistants say, Cited sends them shopper-style questions. Those questions can include your store or brand name, your category and your competitors' names. They never include any shopper’s personal data. We do not use your data to train models and we do not sell it.

Where it is stored
Data is stored in the UK or EU. Tokens for connected accounts are encrypted at rest.
Cookies
Session cookies only, which the app needs to run inside your admin. No tracking, analytics or third-party cookies.
Retention and deletion
When you uninstall Cited, the platform tells us and we erase what we hold about your shop, within 30 days at the outside and usually much sooner. See the deletion page.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, for it to be corrected, or for it to be deleted, at any time. If you are in the UK you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. We would like the chance to put it right first.
