03 · Straight talk
What it won’t do
- Promise rankings. Cited gives you visibility into what the assistants say. Nobody can guarantee what an AI recommends tomorrow.
- Touch customer data. The Shopify app asks for one permission: read products. No orders, no customers, no checkout.
- Train models on your data. Your store’s data is not used to train anything and is not sold.
- Do everything on Wix yet. The Wix version covers the AI visibility scan and structured data. Reputation, local rankings and the weekly digest are Shopify only for now.

Billed through Shopify or Wix. Paid Shopify plans start with a 14-day free trial. There is no trial on Wix.
05 · Privacy
Privacy, plainly
- The Shopify app requests one permission: read products. It stores no customer, order or payment data.
- It keeps your shop details, your tracked questions and the AI answers collected, competitor names, and any locations and reviews you connect.
- Questions sent to the AI providers contain your store name, category and competitors. Never shopper data.
- Uninstall and what we hold about your shop is erased, usually within days and within 30 days at the outside.

Good questions
What is AI visibility?
It is whether assistants like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI answers mention and recommend your store when shoppers ask what to buy. Search rankings do not tell you that, so Cited asks the assistants directly.
Which assistants does it check?
Perplexity and Gemini on the free plan. Growth adds ChatGPT. Pro adds Claude and Google AI Overviews.
Will Cited get my store recommended?
It shows you where you stand and what to fix, such as missing structured data or thin review coverage. It does not promise a ranking, and you should be wary of anyone who does.
What does it need access to?
On Shopify, read access to products and nothing else. On Wix, your site and business details, the product catalogue, and permission to add structured data to your site.
Is there a version for other platforms?
Not yet. Cited runs on Shopify and Wix today. If you are on another platform, tell us and we will let you know if that changes.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
The platform tells us the app was removed and what we hold about your shop is deleted. The privacy page has the detail.
