Track the context, not just the dose

A bad week isn't always a bad week for the reason you think. Write the context down.

When I started I was logging the dose and nothing else. Three months in I had a column of dates and no idea why some weeks felt heavier than others. So I added one line per week — what was actually going on.

First week back from holiday. Weekend at my mum's. The cold that went round the office.

Suddenly when I scroll back, the weeks that felt off make sense. It wasn't the medication being unpredictable. It was life being life, and I'd lost the timeline.

The note isn't medical. It's the fridge magnet of the data — what day of the week did this happen, and what else was true about that week. Without that, every entry looks the same.

With it, the pattern is yours.

you're not logging for today-you — you're leaving a note for a version of you who's completely forgotten this week

the thing that kills tracking isn't motivation — it's perfectionism (a record full of holes still beats memory)

your prescriber sees a few minutes every few months — the in-between is the real story, and only you can record it
