the photo background is doing 30% of the work

Your photo is fine. Your background is killing it. Look behind the jumper, not at it.

Two identical jumpers. Same brand, same price, same title. The one I shot on a clean bedsheet did £24 in five days.

The one I shot on the bedroom carpet, with a charging cable and a sock just visible at the edge, sat for three weeks at £18. Same item. The buyer's brain doesn't think 'nice jumper, dirty carpet' — it thinks 'this seller doesn't care, and if they don't care about the photo they probably don't care about the dispatch'.

A bedsheet pinned flat to the wall costs nothing. A foam board from the pound shop costs £1. Either is the difference between a quick sale and a re-list.

VintSnap writes the listing properly — but the photo is upstream of the listing. Fix the background once and every photo from then on benefits.

every listing is read by two completely different audiences — most sellers write for one and lose the other

the listing was slow, so the sales were slow, so I lost heart — the flywheel that looked like laziness

listing doesn't fail because it's hard — it fails because *starting* is hard (the bag by the door)
